Buff Orpington chickens are known for their friendly, docile temperament and are a popular dual-purpose breed. They have a distinctive appearance with a heavy, broad body, fluffy plumage, and a curvy, short back. Their feathers are dense and can get waterlogged in wet weather, so they need protection. Buff Orpingtons are known for their gentle, friendly nature and are often considered good family pets. They are a good source of both meat and eggs. They lay light brown eggs, and while not top egg layers, they produce a respectable number, especially in their first few years.
